removing bed
1998 f150 small bed I think 6.5. Has anyone ever removed the bed of your truck? If so, was it a hard job? I do also have a bedliner. I have seen a youtube video and it doesn't seem that difficult. Any advice? thanks

I've removed a couple beds (not on these trucks), it is pretty simple. The hardest part is making sure all your wires are free, and then clearing the gas tank spout. That gas tank spout is really the most difficult thing to maneuver around when taking a bed off or putting one off. Past that it's unbolt, take off the wires, and pull it off. You might want 3-4 guys, 2 will do it but it sucks. The more the merrier.

If this is a Super Crew The Pump is located under the rear passenger seat so bed removal is pointless (don't ask me how I know this LOL )
Dropping the tank is easy peasy

If the bolts are corroded ...just cut them off and replace them.. had my bed off in an hour... disconnect fuel filler neck...tail light harness/ cut 6 bolts..4 dudes lift it up and off the truck...

Multiple T50's and a cheater pipe will be your best friend.
I had two of my bed bolts so corroded to the retainer nut clip, they bolt broke the nut away from the retainer clip. I used a cut off wheel to take the head off the bolt, then lifted the bed with my back in order to make room to cut off the bolt and clip on the frame.

Just drop the front of the gas tank. Pump comes right out. Don't have to take the tank out to do a pump in these trucks. Drop the front way down and voila. If the tank is full, different story. Half a tank or less, ok.

Either way isn't bad. I've done both. Rusted bolts and all didn't have to cut them; managed to get them out. Two guys can lift the bed no problem, but yes the more the easier it'll be. Dropping the tank isn't bad if you're low on fuel but my bolts and hoses were more of a pain to get off under the bed than just removing the bed (it's a tight squeeze to get some of them). Just pull the tailgate off, remove bedliner, unplug license plate lights and tail lights, unbolt filler neck from bed, remove bed bolts and then lift off... Easy peasy.
