Default Removed my GEM....

and noticed no real signs of water intrusion (see my previous thread about electrical gremlins if you are lost). When I looked at the sockets for the large connections in the back of the fuse block, I noticed two small places that have a little drip of water near one of the many electrical blades.

I really dont wanna replace the GEM if the fuse box is shorted but my dealer here has a GEM in stock but not a fuse box. Problem is that neither one can be returned after installation.

What would you do? Thoughts/opinions?

Forgive my asking but I don't know what you mean by a GEM? Abbreviation for something?

Ahh that explains my lack of knowledge. Franchi doesn't do anything related to electrical....

Then again, that might have been because as a VERY small kid, I thought wall electrical outlets were candy dispencers so I was always trying to feed dimes or pennies I found into them...

Clean the contacts with CLR and then spray them with contact cleaner. Finish up with dielectric grease. You have nothing to loose but a few $$$ and your time.

Well, a couple weeks ago I pulled the GEM and took a blowdryer to it and the fuse box. I also applied di-electric grease to all the connections. All was well in the world.

Last night and this morning, we got more heavy rain and sho-nuff, its doing crazy stuff again. I dropped the truck off at a glass shop and they will hopefully let me know good things and low cost solution.
