Default Rear window trim w/pics

Hey fellows,

I am newbie here and I have a problem on my 02' F-150. The rear window trim is coming off at the top. I took a closer inspection of it and the brackets at the top is broken. Is this a easy fix? I tired to see if I could take the whole trim off but it seem that the rear window is holding the trim in or something unless I am mistaken. I am in process of giving my truck a makeover after it has passed the 100,000 miles mark last week after nine years of driving without a single major problem.

its a very common problem, you can purchase a new piece for around $400 and have a glass shop R&R the backglass for around $125...

You have to take the window out to get that trim piece off. Take backseat off, pull headliner back, there's screws holding window in, then screws for the trim. Pull window out, then trim will come out. Mines cracked where 3rd brake light screws in. Sucks and I can not find that trim new anywhere.. LMC has everything, the window, the stripping but not that plastic trim!! Craigslist has them once in a while but they are always cracked too!

400 bucks!?! Jeez...... I am going to have to pass on that one. I can whatever I can to repair those broken brackets and repaint the faded trim. I just had the stock grille, wipers, and wiper cowl painted from a rattle can. I just used the pressure washer on them and none of them chipped off.

Don't have a pic of the wipers, sorry...
