Default rear main seal

Yes I am new here. 1997 F150 4.6 V8, 5 speed manual trans.

I am replacing my Clutch. Had the Fly Wheel resurfaced. Shop manual said I should replace rear main seal, since I have it apart this far. Seal was not leaking. It does have 120,000 miles, thought it would be a good idea.

Well, It's a one piece, I bought a FEL-PRO part number BS 40644. It's a silicone type, not rubber type. It came with a plastic sleeve that protects it while installing, and I think also serves as a tool for install. One side of plastic is larger then other side. Small side won't fit around journal, So I assume the way to use this tool is to install larger end on Journal while seal is pressed on then removed sleeve.. Seems very tight. Instructions are very limited, only says not to use oil on silicone seal. I bought it at Pep Boys. They were not much help.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of seal? Should I use a rubber type instead? Any suggestions would be appreciated. What have you used as a seal and did it leak or not?

Thanks
