Just wondering if anyone had a similiar problem and how they fixed it...
I have a 97 150 and recently replaced the drum brakes, wheel cyl, and springs. The brakes are dragging pretty heavy on the truck especially on the drivers side. I made sure the wheel cylinders were fully compressed and that the E-brake tentioner was all the way in.

Anyone have a similiar problem with their drum brakes?

Do you use the ebrake on a regular basis? Mine wasn't and the back half of the cable was so rusted it would release the tension even tho the pedal worked fine. Check that

Yeah I put new brake hardware on and I do you use the emergency brake frequently so that doesn't seem to be binding up

Jack up rear of truck and remove the wheels and brake drums, inspect to see if the shoes are against the top post that the springs are supposed to retract shoes against. If shoes are tight against the center post, more than likely not the emergency brake is released and your dragging is from improperly brakes (dragging). Or perhaps the drums are out of round and need machining. Keep in mind there is always some drag with properly adjusted drum brakes, just as there is some drag on self adjusting front disc brakes.

Get back to us with what you see.

I had problems with my rear brakes dragging and getting hot. Everything was replaced three times before they found the backing plate was bent about 1/8". Might be something to check.

Just took a look and the drums dont seem to be out of round (i actually bought a new one and fitted it up and it did the same thing) and the shoes are against the top post....
