Default Rear axle question

I've got a 02 2wd and the rear axle seems to be sitting over toward the right (passenger side)by bout a 1/4-1/2 inch. Is this normal?? I've seen somewhere saying they can't get these rear axles dead center. Is this true or did my rear axle shift to the right a bit?? Thanks for any help.

Is that measuring to the bed or the frame?

The bed. I didn't think to measure from the frame lol. Old age catching up with me. Have to check that tomorrow.

Lol just a thought that jumped into my head. Should be almost easier to measure to frame behind the top half of the tire. I'd rather deal with a shifted bed then a shifted axle lol.

Are you looking at the pumpkin vs the center of the truck? If so, it will be a bit to the right of center. The right axle shaft is 31.75 vs 33.5 for the left on the 9.75. It will similar with the 8.8. Many vehicles are off a bit to one side, usually the right, since rotation is clockwise throughout the drivetrain.

I was just goin by how far the tire was from the inside fender. I'm goin be doin more checking measuring tomorrow. I started thinking and realized I really didn't measure I was just goin by looks. But the tire does seem to be a bit closer to the outter edge on the right. Thanks all for the input. Greatly appreciated.
