Putting a supercharger on a stock 192,000 mile 5.4?
Hey guys, wondering if it would be smart at all to put a supercharger on my stock 5.4 that has 192,000 miles on it? Just worried about doing some damage to the engine early on. My dad has 285,000 on his 02 5.4, but I dont want to speed up its life. Also what else would I need other than the supercharger, upper and lower intake manifold, plenum, throttle body, and intake?

Yeah thats what I was thinking too. Probably wait for this one to go on me and then swap it out with a lightning and build it a little. Just always thought having a supercharged 4x4 would be sweet. Plus, who doesnt want more power!?

um a bit of advice, dont do it, i had a v6 i built my own 5.4, rebuilt and supercharged, ive only got about 400 minles on it now, i rode the v6 out as much as i could so i could just keep spending and building mine and so far besides the gas prices its been a real good swap. but with that many miles on your motor dont do in inless you do it right, BUT!!!! 99-04 is just about the same, same heads! so aslong as you have 99-04 the your set!

But just will say you can put a supercharger on it and roush makes a supercharger that ypu can run up to 12 lbs of boost on a stock 5.4 without worrying about blowing stuff up but I would recommend putting new and stronger heads first cause it's likely you will blow them eventually.

If you've got even cylinder pressure, you've got enough fuel and a good tuner, Go For it.
I would consider a new radiator if it's original and head gaskets if you have the time.
I've seen plenty of 200k F/I modulars. I tuned my buddies modular 5 years ago and it's still going strong.
