Thanks for posting that. Huh, I guess first I'll confirm temp accuracy of the K type thermocouple I was using. I think I have a probe like your using in the kitchen...Nope, found it in the barbecue. Kinda fairy, says Pampered Chef on it. Oh well, I'll see if it works.
Anyway, if it's not blowing as cold as it should, do I just recharge the system? Or is there more to it than that??
I'll leave it alone, don't want to take any chances if there's any.

I don't think it leaks. Well, I've never touched the AC since I purchased the truck new in 98. If it does, it's a very slow one. It plugged up about a week ago, blew nothing but hot air. Fixed itself luckily, the drain was plugged. While I was checking it out it belched quite a bit of drainage to the ground, then it went cold again..whew, nothing major I hope. Guess I have to figure out a way to keep that drain clear.

Lucky I guess. Truck was garaged most of its life (when it wasn't on the road), engine compartment never did get dirty. I sealed it off the best I could after I purchased it. Not tight, still circulates air when driving, just enough to keep the foreign matter away. So, that might of helped.

All of you and your properly working silly Air Conditioning, lol. My truck hates me right now.
My rule of thumb for road trips are, if I can't afford the tow bill home, then I don't have enough money, lol.
We've been taking my wife's Maxima on all the road trips lately and we'll be heading back to Michigan next week. :0) I don't get to hit the Dunes but at least it's a comfortable ride.

should be right around 42, the temp cutout switch shuts compressor off at 38 deg. (i think)
even 50 wouldn't cut it for me

it should be just a couple degrees over the compressor cut out temp, which I believe is 38 degrees.
