Default Your Power Window Solution Right Here!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't seen this solution on here. If at all possible please pin this!

My truck and many others on here have had pita power windows. Especially the drivers side. I've combed the internet for a solution for well over 2 years and lived with the fact sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. I've ordered switch, relays and motor and with everything new they still would not work. Hook my motors up to a battery and they would work flawlessly when reversing the polarity.....

......Then one day I fumbled upon the solution to everyone's problem. I have been riding mine like this for 3 months now and have had no side effects or problems.

It's simple, quick and free to bypass the GEM module which is a pain to install and expensive. Cut the orange and white wire coming from the door (I cut mine at the plug for the motor) and the tan and blue wire coming from the switch. (kind of limited here as to how far you can cut without cutting the bundle open. I left enough off the switch to securely splice the jumper and enough to cover the cut end to avoid grounds.) Splice these two together with a jumper wire and voila, windows work. Mind you the one touch down crap doesn't work but I'd rather be able to roll down my window.

I take no credit for the genius of this or the nice wiring diagram. I found it online and credit goes to them. It just didn't feel right not to share the information on here though.

Default Very helpful!

I just used this to bypass the GEM on my '97 XLT. Very helpful instructions. SO NICE to have control of the window again instead of the random up/down once a month!

Default Please help!! If able

I've tried this bypass with no results. Of course everything else is not working connected with the GEM. Interior lights, wipers, ect. So I know I'll be replacing the GEM anyway. Would just like to get the windows down due to not having A/C and living in Southeastern Texas.

Do I have to cut the tan/blue wire for it to work? Seeing that there are two tan/blue wires (one for dr and one for pass side) I didn't want to go tearing something up I didn't need to. So I just used a pick and jumper wires to make connections. Again with no results.

It's been three or four years by now so I don't recall. I seem to remember wire nutting a couple together after cutting.

Well I went ahead and cut the wires and wired it all up yesterday afternoon. Still nothing. I got the windows down by just running direct power to the moters. I'll just park it in the shop if starts raining. Going to order a new GEM today from the parts house. This is driving me nuts!! Thank You So Much for responding. It's GREATLY appreciated!!]

I tried the orange wire and both tan wires nothing. I have a 97 xlt 4x4. My wipers windows dome and map lights. Warning dinger for door. All stopped at same time although they did act up for a couple of months so far I have bypassed my dome lights and map lights working and ran a long hot and ground wires inside the cab. I unplugged the window motors and ran them out of the door panel so I can just stick them to the plug. And they are working fine so far I am going to work on bypassing the wipers next . Or buy stock in Rainex. Ha ha. If anyone has any ideas on the wipers it would be much appreciated
