I changed my surround panel to cure that problem with my lil Red truck. I tried a couple ideas for a fix. but nothing seemed to work.

The door is a separate part and I am not sure how changing the entire trim solved this. Is there a spring or something missing??

I tried a spring and couldn't get it to stay in place. The surround has the piece included, and I had a crack in it, so that is why I changed the surround out. It was a simple 15 minute switch and everything went well.

The door is still available, the surround is not. With that in mind, is there another way? What keeps this thing closed?

There are plenty of them out there, just a little high in price. I paid $45 for mine. They are out there on eBay, you just need to look deeper than I just did. I just popped this up quickly to give you an idea of them.

I dont need the entire bezel though. Just need to know if I just need this door or is there a spring that keeps it closed or what?

Mine wouldn't stay shut when I bought it. So, I actually popped the spring out of an old Rain Bird pop-up impact sprinkler, and it fit/worked wonderfully.

That might work. The ones I tried, would not stay seated, so I got upset and threw the damn thing out and replaced it. I guess I could of made a seating nib, and held it in place, but that thought came after I switched out the panel.

Good call White.
