po340
Hello
i just rebuilt my f150 4.2v6 2000 engine and it ran on the first time. But I do have 1 problem. I got a error code of po340. cam postion sensor error code. I know it was working before, does it have to be set to a timing light or is it just one of those thing you can replace and it doesnt matter at what angle or degree it goes in at?
ant comments???

Welcome to the forum, and congratts on the work performed. Am driving the same engine my self in an 02. Have to admitt (blush) I can only assume the the sensor has to be set with an alignment tool. If its anything like the 5.0 cam syschronizer it repuires a special tool. Call a local tool truck, Snap on, Mac tools, Matco tool, or Corny tool, just to name a few and ask them. You are one 4.2 engine job up on me, congratts again. There are a few of us 4.2 guys here, perhaps they will chime in.

Thanks Bill,
I am going to the shop now to see if my friend has an alignment tool for this job. I was first scared to try to rebuild this motor since i have never attempted anything like this in 20 years. Rebuilding it is not the problem its getting all those bolts, hoses, vacuum lines and stuff like that to go back together. However i dont think i would ever do it again. it takes too much of my time and alot of patience.
