LOL, I just did as well. Guys will usually go 5four with a PI swap. Mustang guys and the 4six,- hell I've seen them keep nonPI heads, then add just the PI intake with great results.

As far as numbers. I only know the 5fours. A PI swap with those and bolt ons you can get 260 RWHP. Not much help since your a 4six.

Good Luck.

EDIT: NM, he's converting a 4six. So that really doesn't matter.
All 97/98 trucks have a ECT an CHT. The CHT tells the pm coolant temp along with the gauge. It's redundant. I am pi swapped and not using the ECT at all the connector is unplugged. The calibration for the ECT is changed when a custom tune is written off a PI base file. So the EAT won't be used when tuned.

I know, - 4six ECT's were used beyond that as well, -further thru the years.

If my PCM was programed for an ECT, my engine would have one, - since all you have to do is T the heater hose (WATTS, and if you didn't have an intake port)) vs screwing with the tune. That's for a 5four PI swap. Know what I'm saying yet? lol

Yea, I don't want to cause more confusion. Not relevant since he's 4six.

No you don't want to find one from a 01-03 4.6 truck. You need to reuse your throttle body elbow and everything attached to it.

Right. That's what I assumed w/4.6's. In 01 the 4sixs went PI,that's been confirmed. But I can't say for certain they deleted the ECT's. So the 01's run off the CHT only ? You confirmed ?
