Default not so helpful site on help with 4.2 camshaft synchronizer

i pulled my cam position sensor off and noticed that it was completely distroyed along with the sinkroniser shaft. i pulled the sinkroniser shaft out without setting #1 cylinder top dead center i was wondering if i had spoiled my engine now because of a stupid mistake. can someone please help me.

Wink It can be fixed

You need a special tool to set the shaft position. The shaft only feeds info to the sensor which talks to the computer. I think you can google for the instructions on replacing the shaft and setting the engine to TDC as you were correct that part of aligning the shaft is to have the engine in that position. The special tool for alignment is the key.
