Yeah, of coure I released the brake... but particularly when it's cold, the panel indicator light stays on for 30 minutes or so, seemingly until it gets nice and warm inside the cab. Likely to be the sensor out of adjustment? How do I remove panels to access it?

My parking brake light stays illuminated also. Just started this morning. Nothing out of the ordinary between last night and this morning. Any idea on a fix? My truck is still under warranty, but if I can jiggle a wire/clean out a switch - I'd rather do that.

Pull the parking brake release and with your foot push the pedal up so it sits firmly in the release position. If the light goes out your cable is stretched and needs adjustment and or replacement.

Sometimes they will do that if your fluid is low too..not sure bout 150's tho

I've had that on my 97 before, that was the solution - using your foot that is to lift the pedal.

I am the original poster. Although I called it the "parking brake light", technically it's just the "brake indicator panel light" (but not ABS light).
Reading the manual (gasp!) gave no indication (pun intended..), but I did eventual find a post on-line, as suggested in a response above, that it also indicates low brake fluid. On inspecting the resevoir, it was low, and when filled a small white plastic float could be seen rising, almost certainly the contact with the sensor embedded in the filler cap. Problem solved (although low fluid, without any leaks, may well suggest I need to have brake pads & rotors inspected for wear!).

The low brake fluid level is an indicator of brake lining wear. Might be time for a brake job.

Love google search... My dash brake light came on today on my 2001 Lightning close to home and I jumped to all sorts of conclusions of what could possibly be wrong.

After reading the wrong internet thread about someone who had the same thing and was told its the 206relay .127 that needs pinning to the master blah blah blah I thought ahh jesus ill just take the bulb out

anyway next google thread down was this one and as I am new to this forum and my F150 I was happy to be taken to a familiar place.

Low and behold it was as simple as low brake fluid!!!!!!! Topped it up and the light went out and were good to go. Who would have thought the system just did its job!

There may be another reason it went low and ill look into it but as least I have the light off again and can enjoy the truck some more

Wow this is an old thread!

Yeah I have a few buddies that thought it was an ebrake engaged light only... needless to say their brakes didn't work soon after and me being their mechanic gave em a lashing while I was bleeding the whole system...

"Well what symptoms were you having?"
"None" they say
"Dude your brake light is on"
"My ebrake light? Yeah that $#!+$ been on a while now"
