Default Straght pipe good idea?

MY friend cut off his muffler and his cats were broken in his muffler. I like how it sounds and was wondering if it is bad for it? Will I lose mpg or power? Wanting my truck to sound better but don't want to fork out the money. Sorry stupid question but want to know

You are gonna loose some low end torque and possibly a little worse mpg.

Nope not bad for the engine at all man. You won't have any engine trouble from removing the muffler. Lots of people on here have done it.

I cut mine and it sounds like ****. I'm cutting off my cats and putting a flowmaster 10 on it,should sound much much better. Its actually quieter with no muffler than it was with my flowmaster 40.
