Should be basicly a check light for the trans. Lots of trans shops offer free inspections, should be an easy check with the right equip. Don't know if you can self scan it.

Mine started shifting funny and then the OD light started flashing so I had to limp on home last night in 2nd gear. Gotta get it checked out.

it is most definetely your tranny. mine did the same thing, but shifted fine. took it to the tranny place and found all kinds of internals had broke. the guys said the trucks do this before they really screw up the tranny. so it only cost me 400 instead of 2200 to fix my transmission.

Scanned mine and no codes just a hard failure of the sprag clutch so now i'm figuring out just what and where to get it fixed.

snag a low mileage one....car-part.com is a ginormous recycle yard database. Greenleaf Auto is also a good place to check, they are usually eager to wheel and deal on a transmission.
