Have a 1999 F150 2wd. Driving up a hill last evening the tach shot up and I lost what I thought was the transmission. Clicked off the overdrive button and was able to make it home. I've had no indications of a problem and all has felt fine. I know there are some sensors that can go bad. Ford want $114 to throw it on their special Ford computer to test the sensors, etc. Can any transmission shop with computers detect problems with these same sensors? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
