Default overdrive

Alright i have 2000 f150 5.4 now if i get in the truck in the morning and start driving it shifts fine until i get to the overdrive and it takes awhile to shift into overdrive after the truck runs for a bit it is fine. Same thing in the afternoon when i get off of work any ideas anyone.

Have you changed your transmission fluid and filter recently? If not that could be a good place to start.

Wink overdrive

how cold is the temp in the morning. my 2001 wont shift to od until the temp gauge comes off the red. hope its that simple.

Yeah i have an 01 5.4 too and mine does the exact same thing when its cold. Theres nothing wrong with it it just holds it in Drive till the oil warms up. Try letting it idle and warm up, then take off im sure it will shift fine.
