Default Performance Chips!

I have a 02 f150 supercrew 4.6, I was wondering what is the best chip I can get for my money. I'm not looking to spend a whole ton of money. I want it for the gas mileage, do the chips really help on gas mileage

1. You do NOT want a chip - you want a flash programmer

2. They are not cheap - but WELL worth it. No such thing as cheap and 'best'.

3. NO gas mileage guarantees - some do experience it and some don't. Yer right foot's behaviour - and vehicle maintenance state are FAR larger factors.

4. My recommendation: SCT X4 with custom tunes from these folks: www.morepowertuning.com

BTW - a good read fer ye: http://www.f150online.com/forums/chi...unes-read.html

The actual price is less - you will get a Forum discount applied if you purchase.

good luck!

The cost of a tuner far outweighs any gas mileage improvement that you get (if any).
My mileage stayed the same (but I only got an 87 octane performance tune, if you get a 89/91 tune, you will have even less chance of getting your money back due to the higher cost of the fuel).
I found a used tuner (SCT x3) for $200 and got 1 tune from MPT for $50. While I do not regret doing it, I probably would not do it again.

Mmmm chips

I had a flashpaq and have an edge cs. Don't buy for mileage gains as you'll be disappointed when you stay the same or decrease.

The programmer ( the SCT X4), can contain up to 10 tunes at any given time. A few of those 'slots' contain the canned generic tuning that ships with the device from SCT.

MPT - (MorePowerTuning) is an SCT Custom tuning Dealer. They will write tunes specifically tailored to your specific truck's PCM (computer), and yer wants and needs. You specify this at order time by filling out & emailing back a Custom Tuning Order Form. THREE Custom tunes are included with the device's pricing. You can always buy more at any time.

They write em & email the tunes which you then install on the device using SCT's free software.

Best is you contact them direct fer the best, most detailed info. Great folks.

We also have a MPT forum presence - MorePowerTuning is the username - you can PM them.

good luck

Oh YEAH!

OP, if I were you, I'd drive to MPT fer dyno tuning. You will NOT be disappointed with their tunes, but dyno tuning is the way to go if you can swing it.

Heck, I'm studyin' on headin' close to MPT fer vacamacation just so I can do the dyno tunin' bidness.
