Something is not right with your brakes.
It is my understanding that standard OBD-II code readers cannot read the fault codes from the ABS system.
Not sure about your vintage, on mine there is supposed to be be a test that can be triggered to yield codes through flashing the brake and the ABS lights in certain sequences. However, the Chilton's manual tells me everything I need to know about the codes, except how to trigger the test. Arrrgh.
At any rate, just for example on my vintage, for both the brake and ABS light being on continuously (not doing any flashy-thingy) - the things to check include brake fluid level, master cylinder reservoir float, diode-resistor element, anti-lock valve switch, master cylinder switch, and shorted brake light wiring. Your vintage may have different faults assigned to both lights being on continuously.
I suggest to get this checked out pronto. Sure, it could be something as minor as a stuck float, but as a worst case, not being able to stop could yield serious consequences.

well this has been happening for some time now... about a month and a half. my mechanic said it was probably just a bad abs sensor over the rear pig. my braking is normal, they feel fine and havent failed so i think it could be just the senser

so today i washed my truck and i decided why not, ill pop the hood and stray off the engine, so i turned on the truck and popped the hood and sprayed it off. no my abs light remains off. i think that my sensor is bad and responds to moisture... think that could be true?

I wouldn't say that the sensor "responds" to moisture, but dirt might have been covering the opening to the proximity switch and you managed to rinse off the debris while washing your truck.

haha today, the day after washing it, i was driving on a back country road and had to stand on the brakes to avoid hitting a trophy buck (after which i regreted) and about a quarter mile after, the lights came on... i dont know whats going on with it anymore...

yo man.. on the ABS light.. I would say better take it to the dealer.. for around $75 they run the test that test each individual ABS sensor.. the rear one is like $45.. and the 2 in the front are about $60.. if you get them new.. I still have yet to do that.. but Imma junkyard those sensors off the newer trucks for mine.. check all of your fluids also.. and if you had just chenged your brakes... re-check to make sure you connected all of your sensors..
As far as the brake light.. sure you dont have your E-brake on ??..lol
If you dont then maybe your brakelight switch is bad,,, then one right above the brake pedal.. the little button that activates the light must be stuck causing the brake light to be on.. that sensor runs about $14 at a local autoparts store..
Hope this was helpful yo..
