Default think i ble up a spark plug HELP

started tearing down engine and found coil pack on right side dessintigrated. stuck screw driver down hole and there appears o be nothing there. i know there deep in the head but i used a long screwdriver. will i have to keep tearing this thing apart to fix it? i would really appreciate any help.

a picture could help. Have someone crank the engine and feel/hear if there is a leak right there. You should be able to notice one spark plug not firing though on idle.

it blew the plug out and took the threads with it. ended up putting a helicoil in it and all is good now. thanks for the reply.

good luck with the helicoil mine lasted a couple weeks then new heads were in order

cant use heli coils on these u must use time inserts

Sorry about your luck dude! the 5.4s are notorious for blowing out plugs

My dad blew a plug over 2 years ago on his 00 f150 5.4L, fixed with a heli coil and haven't had a problem since (2 years). He does a lot of towing also, with a pretty good load. Not saying that they're the better option, but they do work. I would imagine it would have something to do with the severity of the blow out also. If the plug comes out and disintegrates the c.o.p. there's a good chance it came out with a lot of force... which means it took every thread and then some with it. In my dads case the plug, nor the c.o.p. was destroyed. Just nice and easy spit it out I guess or worked its way lose but hung onto the last thread until it came loose..

thanks for all the replys guys. I did use a time insert and not a heli coil. so far so good. hopefully that lasts me past the holidays or the kids are getting used heads for christmas. by the way its a 2001 f150 crew w/ 8 inch lift on 38" BFG's. its the wifes truck.
