Why would my oil pressure gauge drop when I rev my motor high?

Suggest takeing a direct reading with a gauge to verify. If condition is same, then my thought leans toward oil supply starvation. Perhaps the pick up screen is plugging up and restricting the supply to the pump operating at the higher revs.
