Default OBD II Fuse

My father is in the ICU in memphis and I drove down from missouri. On the way down the service engine soon light came on. Truck runs fine, but with the more extreme cold weather I have noticed that the rpms bounce when the idle drops to around 1000 rpm during warm up.

I went to Autozone to get the code scanned but the port would not power up their scanner, they tried several different scanners and none would do anything.

Anyone know which fuse powers the obd II port?

Problem solved!

The Service Engine Soon light was on and I pulled the #3 fuse like you mentioned, and yes it was blown. The Autozone couldn't scan the codes because of this fuse being blown.

Afterwards, they scanned it just fine, I have a P1151, a P0174, and a P0171 code.

What now? The service engine soon light is now off and I drove it 150 miles to memphis last night and its still off. Do I need to do anything?

Thanks for the help.

FYI- code P1151 usually on a F150 Triton is a bad O2 sensor bank 2 front
codes P0171 and P0174 usually on a FORD is the PCV elbow has a hole in it.

Bank 2 front, that means the upstream O2 sensor on the opposite side of the number 1 cylinder?

Also, anyone got a pic of that elbow?

You are correct on O2 location and this is a picture of the elbow that is located on the passenger side valve cover.

Did you notice the touch of class torkum used to display the PVC elbow. Defective elbow, new elbow and bag with part number. Can't compete with that. If upon inspection your elbow elbow reveals different, the P0171 and P0174 could be caused by the bolts and seals on the black plenum chamber. Its not an easy fix and by nomeans cheap. $150.00 for the parts. (Ford only). Several good right ups about them. Replace mine last spring, light only no apparent idle fluctuation. Good luck and hope Dad gets better.

Thanks Torkum, you are a class act!

Bill, if that seal job is the one I am thinking of we did that about a year ago on my parent's Windstar van. the seals on the inside of the lower plenum deteriorated and left a vacuum leak.

I appreciate the sentiment, I've been in the ICU waiting room for going on 7 days now. If it were not for the hospital's wireless system they would be admitting me to the psych ward!

I'm sorry to hear about your father, I hope everything turns out okay. As for the elbow, I had to replace mine due to the hole. I had a high pitch wine when I would raise the RPMs at all. Almost like the sound of a supercharger. Anything like that happening with you?

No, no hitch pitched noise. In fact the codes have not been back. I'm hoping they dont come back. But when I get a chance to leave the hospital I will check that elbow. Where is it located on the V6?
