Default Not hot heat...

I have a 97 F150 Lariat. The heater doesn't get that hot... It is more luke warm. I don't know if there is a valve or something that is not opening all of the way, if so where would such valve be located. I can hear the electrical "flap" opening when I turn the selector from hot to cold so I am pretty sure that is working. I do not have any heater core leak. Any information would be appreciated it is starting to get cold....

How warm is the truck running? If your thermostat is stuck wide open, the truck will run too cool to ever let the heater get hot.

The temp is running about quarter way through the normal range. Maybe just below half. So i think it is getting plenty warm. I just looked at the heater trater video pertaining to the blend air flapper... looks like lots of work. I may try this.

Most cause in situations like this is the blend air door not opening all the way or at all....

I'll dig to see if I can find a thread where somebody fixed theirs and posted about it....

It really is not alot of work! It takes less that a hour, I followed the video just to get heat "right now"! I have video of this but utube wont let me in.

There is a chance that the door is not broken all the way, you might try this : remove the door motor, (you may see pieces fall out). Then stick something in to the doors plastic shaft and see if you can close the door to heat position (turn clockwise), if this works tape your lever in this position.

You can operate your truck with the moter unpluged and the cover off without worry. Now you order the parts needed, I recomend heater treater, thou Im doing something different.
Good luck
