Default No Oil Pressure

So today I took my truck into a shop because there was no oil pressure at all. It's a 2000 5.4 Lariat, with about 350,000kms (a lot I know). I figured its an oil pump problem because it really did sound like it had no oil in it. I changed my oil about 2 weeks ago. Now, I know its obviously a high mileage truck at this point but the engine did not run poorly previously to this problem. I also did not run the truck at all once I recognized it had no oil pressure.

Because of the mileage I have, the mechanic is recommending a new engine as replacing an oil pump will cost me about 1000 bucks in labour. I'm a little shocked at this cost so I'm wondering where would be a good place to look at a quality rebuilt engine, since I do love this truck so much?

Also, is 1000 bucks labour in the right range?

I appreciate any help thanks
