New truck/Check engine light/IAC Valve! etc....
hi guys, new to the forum. hoping this is a good one.
just bought a 1997 f150, with the 4.6 v8 and ofcoarse its got a check engine light on. scanned at autozone and it came up"idle air control (IAC) overspeed error", "Engine vacuum Leak" and "Failed IAC Valve". Also, heater condition (heated oxygen sensor bank) "oxygen sensor defective", "poor connection at oxygen sensor". I know that the IAC is somewhere on the intake, but does it probably need to be replaced, or just cleaned? Does this relate to the 4X4 at all? Because I think the check engine light came on after I put it in 4x4 hi. So whats really the problem? Guy I bought it from says it probably needs a new air filter.... could that help, since this stuff relates to the intake? Should I get a K&N? it was $60+ at auto zone. cheaper ones were around $20.
Also the shift lever is really sloppy and loose feeling... whats causing this? Shift linkage cable or something like that? How would I fix this?
thanks,
