Default New Tires Before Winter

I need to get a new set of tires before winter. I have a 2001 F150 Lariat 5.4L that is totally stock. I want to put some 285 or 33's on but I'm not sure they will fit. Do I need a small lift, just a level or nothing? Thanks.

I have them with no lift or level kit but I got the truck used and am not 100% sure my torsion bars aren't cranked...

33's will fit if you crank the torsion bars.

Is cranking the torsion bars a easy job or should I let the tire place do it if they will?

i got a 2000 f150 5.4 sport 4x4 flareside reg cab and just bought wild country xtx sports 285/70/17s and they do not rub at all even taking turns at speeds or hitting bumps while turning. no leveling kit or cranking the torsion bars for me. and they are amazing in the snow

Dont crank the torsion bars. You are just asking for premature wear. If you need any lift just do a simple leveling kit. They are very affordable you can most likely do it yourself depending on your skill level and you wont need new shocks.

Thanks for all the input so far. I was looking on craigslist and found some 33x12.5x17 for a reasonable price they said the tires fit on a expedition, do you think they will fit on my stock truck?

33's will fit without doing anything depending on the width they may rub the least little bit when you turn it hard. I had 285/75 16 Nitto Terra Graplers and they didn't rub noticeably but i could see where they would rub on the frame. I now have 315/75 16's Maxxis Buckshot Mudders with a 3" body lift and they rub when turned all the way but not enough to effect driving. It all depends on what you want if you can tolerate a little rub then go with the bigger ones your truck will look better to.
