Default New problem, engine check light

On my 2000 ford f150 xlt, my check engine service soon went on, idk why it does that, it happened to me today when i was speeding up, about 2 or 3 weeks ago it did the same thing but when i added almost full tank of gas it went away.

Do you think its my fuel pump?

When the light comes on go to your local autozone or whatever parts store you have around you. Ask them for a code reader this is a free service they will hook it up and read the code. Everytime the check engine lights comes on it gives off a code this code tells you what is wrong or what needs to be fixed. Ex: i just put an K&N air fliter in my truck it wasnt used to the extra air supply the check engine light came on be cause of it. So it can give off fake codes too. But at least its good start! So let us know what it reads off then we can help you out!

Not the fuel pump. If you don't feel anything its more than likely a emissions code. Possible a O2 sensor on the edge of being out of range. Have you noticed a difference in fuel mileage?

O2 sensor getting out of range. A scanner that goes into mode6 can graph whats going on.

Today when i went to work i had low fuel plus my check engine light was on, when i got off work and started the truck it only had my fuel gauge on since i had low gas, but my check engine light went away.

so you guys think it might be a o2 sensor?

best advice I can give has already been given. you really need to try to get the codes pulled. with all the sensors and electronics its hard to diagnose the problem without diagnostic equipment.
