Default Need wheel and tire help

Het guys and gals.

I just got a 2000 f150 5.3L 4x4 today and I am already looking to do something with the wheels and tires. I have the stock 17s on here but they have seen better days.

This may or may not be beating a dead horse.

I am looking for the biggest wheels I can fit without rubbing. There is a ton of stuff I do not know. offset, what rim size is optimal, bolt pattern. etc. 33s? 35s?

I refuse to lift or level the truck as I use it to commute and I will be using it for towing.

Again I apologize if this has been asked before. Most of the threads I found were for biggest tire on the stock rims. I am looking for a wheels and tires.

P.S Where is a good place to buy wheel/tire packages? online? local?

I am new... be gentle.

On stock 17" wheels, lt285-70-17s work great without rubbing. They are 32.7 " dia in all terrain, and 33" dia in mud terrain treads usually.

With minor trimming of front valence and right wheels, I think you can fit something slightly larger. There is a sticky somewhere.

If you are going to tow, you really dont want to go larger than the LT285s or you will notice lack of power. Depending on your gears of course.

Doing much towing with a 17 yr old truck, can be asking for problems. Especially if tranny hasnt been religiously maintained.

Are you looking for the biggest wheel or biggest tire? The biggest tire you can fit would be a 35" if you crank the T-bars and trim a bit. I think 33's look the best on a stock truck though.

I'm selling my truck and I bought 2 extra 17x9 XD series spy wheels if you want to buy them off me. They have a 4.53 back spacing and -12 offset so they'd look pretty good, let me know if you want some pics (I have a lift on my truck but it'd give you an idea). They are like 200 brand new, I'll sell you both of them for 100 so you'd be in 500 for new wheels.

I wont be doing much towing thankfully but I will towing my boat up to lake here and there. Tranny is in great shape. *knock on wood*

So you're saying 33s are about max without a lift? My wheels are shot though. I need some new fancy wheels.

I bought them at 4 wheel parts.

I also forgot to mention, our bolt pattern is 5x135, only the '97-03 F-150 and Expeditions have this lug pattern.

Is there a thread somewhere that shows offsets? I am not sure what offset I want.
