Default Tire Carrier

Anybody run a spare tire carrier? Custom or readily purchased? Trying to find or have something made that actually replaces the tail gate as my tail gate is one of the few places on the truck with cosmetic damage. What style works best with a super crew? Any thoughts or design ideas greatly appreciated. Flood me with ideas and pictures! Looking to make a well educated decision. Think Baja style truck. Thanks guys.

I have a tire carrier.

It's under the bed of my truck.

I've had an idea for one, but I doubt I'll do it. I run 35" tires and I can't fit a spare under my truck. Since I use my truck just enough to where I need to bed some days, but most of the time it is just to and from the store with no bed use, I thought of putting a 5th wheel hitch in it, welding some studs on that, and essentially having a pre runner tire carrier. This hitch would be the one that you can disconnect the hitch from the rails in like a minute so when I need my bed I can have it.

That's actually genius.

Any kind of swing away design would be ideal. I'm looking to still fit at least one dirt bike in the bed. If I could fit two like I currently can that would be awesome. I'd also like it to be able to hold a 37 inch tire. Not that I have anywhere near that now I just want to future proof my build.

I'd build a roof rack or something. Who knows, maybe you want to carry a 44.

Oh i plan to eventually fully cage the truck and a bed cage for the suspension. Like I said I'm open to any ideas.

The best out of bed option we have right now, I think.

That looks neat. I got quoted 450 for a front bumper and 600 for a rear and tire carrier from a local fabricator I know. So I guess we will be brainstorming ideas here pretty soon!
