I am replacing my factory speakers with Kicker KS 680 and the factory uses a black wire with a purple stripe and the other wire is orange with a red stripe.

Anyone know which one is positive and which is negative?

Look on the12volt.com , they should have the colors.

Thanks man! Either the12volt has the left front and left rear speakers mixed up, or whoever ran the OEM wires in my truck got them mixed up.

Everything is up and running, they sound nice, now I need some bass.

hey BuckChucklestik I was wiring my speakers today on my 97 ford f150 and I ran into the same wiring problem you had. either the factory messed up or somebody else did . any way, according to the wire diagram on your thread for the speaker wiring. the diagram says the left rear positive is one color, however the actual positive wire that is on the left rear speaker is the same color as what the diagram claims for one of the front speakers negative wire .I went ahead and hooked it up the way it said but my rear speakers seem quite muffled compared to front speakers do you think this could be the problem ? Actually GatorB8 is the one that gave you the diagram that came from the12volt.com
