Default Need help shes runing slugish all around

I need help my parents f150 is a 2002 2wd 4.2 v6 and she is running like a slug. Gave her a tune-up thinking it might fix it but didn't help, i changed: plug, wires oils all that good stuff but it keep on jerking during acceleration. We took it to a mechanic and he told us it's the gaskets for the intake manifold, dose anyone have any experiences with this problem? How many different gaskets will i need and well I'm in there is it recommended to change anything else while I'm at it?
Thank you all For Your Help.

Is the CEL on? Kinda sounds like what my truck is doing. Pretty sure mine is a bad passenger side coil pack.

i don't think i do the mechanic said something about rubber o-ring gaskets for the intake manifold. he said that air was getting in giving it an improper reading.

Pulling the codes will tell you what is really wrong with it. I would start there. I thought my truck just needed a tune up, and I found out its a bad coil pack, and a bad egr.

And he did this without pulling the codes?! If he did pull them, he should have passed this info on, so you can see why he thinks hours worth of work (and big money for labor) is justified!!! Shady mechanics just hit that.... UGH!!!

Report back with the codes and we'll go from there!! I agree with the others as it sounds like a failed coil pack...

Good luck!!

Cheers!!!
