Need advice and tips on passing inspection!!
Hello fellow members,
I own a 1997 F150 XLT 4.6 V8 as most of you may or may not already know.
It has 140,000 miles on it and I bought it 4 months ago. Over the past 3 months I had it I have been doing a good amount of maintenance and repairs to it. I recently had a new muffler and pipe put in by a reputable exhaust shop. I took it for inspection a little less that a month ago and it failed because the O2 monitor, the evaporative monitor , and the catalyst monitor were "not ready". I purchased an actron pocket scanner and have been checking the monitors status a couple days each week. The oxygen sensor monitor is ready but the evaporative and catalyst monitors still aren't. If anyone knows how I can get these monitors ready ASAP please chime in.

Assuming the system is in working order, then quickest way is to complete a drive cycle. The details are here:

you may need a new evap valve. Also your cats may not be working correctly. Remember if you disconnect the battery you have to drive it 100 or so miles to get the computer to re cycle through all the tests.
