Just because one amp is powering 2 subs doesnt mean the power output is lower. It will still make the same amount of power to each sub depending on what the load is.

So you're telling me if I wire a 500w amp to one sub its going to be the same as if I wire a 500w amp to two subs...? That doesn't make sense..

Yes.. Its all based off the load being supplied to the amp. for example say all the wiring to the amp from one sub measure 4 ohms, and you add another sub in wired in parallel it will effectively drop the resistance to 2 ohms. Thus increasing the output on the amp. The amp doesnt know that its powering 2 subs, it just knows the load being applied. I wish i had my wiring chart.

There is 2 ways to wire up subs, Series and Parallel. Series will double the resistance (ohms) load. Parallel will cut it in half.

Edit: image to show you the difference in wiring.

Ok im new at this whole sub thing so im still learning..

If my subs are 4ohm DVC and it handles up to 250w RMS per sub.

If i wire the 2 subs in parallel with 500w amp ill be getting 250w per sub? or do i get 250w with both subs because they are at a 4ohm resistance when the amp is pushing 500w at 2 ohm?

What if I bought the 2 ohm DVC alpines? Then wouldn't I be pushing 250w RMS to each sub since the amp is 500w RMS at 2 ohm?

if the amp is 500w @ 2ohm you need to wired @ 4 ohm. I would get the DVC 4ohm because you can wire each sub up in series then supply power to the subs in parallel. i'll make you a image how to wire them in series then parallel to give you a 4 ohm output that way you dont grenade them.

Yeah an image would be great if you could. I don't really understand what you're saying with wire them in a series but supply power to them in parallel..

Here you go.

The red is power, black is ground, Blue represent the series connection on each sub.

The subs are being powered in parallel. But each sub is being wired in series. power is going to one voice coil then feeding thru the other voice coil. You will end up with a 8 ohm load at each sub, but by powering them in parallel you end up with a 4 ohm load.

Congrats, nothing like owning it outright. No payment means more build money. Bonus
