Wire next to radio not connected to anything

Does anyone know what this is? I heard that it's for the 4WD switch but my truck is a 2WD...is it for that?

Well, looking at it again....is that black piece a cap...that is just plugged in?

If its just a plastic cap, then yes that's that is the electronic 4x4 shift.
