Im just now in the preparing stage and gather parts. Running a few simulations and doing the math.
What software do you have access to that's any better than what the Auto industry uses? How are you going to interface with the trucks ECU? Even if you're just monitoring knocks, pressures and temps, having a data logger designed for the application would seem to make more sense.

(btw I work at JLabs.)

I have all the same software as JPL without the SC. Perks of working for the MDA (Missile Defense Agency).

My snap-on modis real time OBD system connects directly in my PC. With Sim-6.3, auto cab, etc... the possibilites are endless.

I could hook into my PCM and change transmission shift points, fuel injector rates, ignition timing, check O2 temps/rates, CHT temp vs ambient temp. All sent directly to my software via modis.

The programs arent really that different from the auto industry, but I can monitor efficiency/real world conditions vs ideal conditions in a closed system.

For example, I change check the thermal efficiency of my heads compared to the throttle valve angle and use an algorithm to find the optimal point within my engine (such that it doesn't blow and runs at top torque at any angle at a certain RPM)

I forgot that you had a modis. That's some pretty great stuff.

Yeah, I love it. Got it for 2100 so couldnt beat it, even have the chips for german/imports.... So now I can tune my TT BMW without an issue.

Any input on the T3/T4 choice?

Anyone with any previous turbo knowledge feel free to chip in... this is my first TT install!!

The bottom end of these 5.4's are amazing stock. With the addition of a Forged crank, rods, bearings, heads the possibilities are endless.

The T3 will get you the flow numbers that you seem to be looking for and since you'll be using two, it will put you in the more efficient range of a power adder. It'll give you just enough to feel and to make it worth it.

T4's are good upgrades for slightly better Hp numbers but if you're not looking for high RPM's, I don't see the need to take up more room to be less efficient down low.

To be honest I would look into some K03's or K04's. As used by alot of the newer factory turbo cars. They dont like tons spindle speed but move alot of air for there size due to the larger exhaust housings. A coworker of mine has a 2.7TT Audi S4 with K04's and it makes peak boost at 2600.. Great little turbo's that are actually wolfs in sheeps clothing.

I think a T3 setup with a t3/t4 hyrid would be the way to go. That all of course depends on the turbo specs.
