Wow, your making good progress. That engine came out quick!

Check out the trick flow heads, they have fully threaded spark plug holes and you'll have more PTV clearance to run a more aggressive cam. They are the same price or a bit cheaper than professionally cnc'd PI heads.

Thanks for the info!

I think I am just gonna have these cleaned up and reworked. Guy is doing them for 50 per head including cleaning valve and ports.

I live in one of the biggest coal mining communities in America, so machine shops are everywhere. Def wont be hard to find someone to do the plug work. If I wasnt shooting for 750 torque I would leave them.

I know some of the "L" guys are getting that out of them without any issues.

Did make some decisions though. I am moving my condesner towards the front of the truck a little more (2inches, Just re-welding some brackets). This will either let me move the radiator up more, or allow me to use the "wasted" space for the efans and shroud.

Its actually 8 threads. From what I have seen its mainly the windsor heads that were 8 thread mostly.

BTW I maybe building what you wanted to build in the first place but with a few key differences..

Why is there so much carbon buildup and why does the exhaust valve seem comparatively clean?

There will always be carbon build up on the heads. All valves are closed(relatively) when the combustion starts, so not all the gases and elements get sent to the exhaust system. When temps get to 210 and above matterials start to stick on the valves etc. Very common, alot can depend on gas used, I know injector cleaner tends to do this to valves as well. The white looking stuff on plugs (corrosion) can sometimes come from injector cleaner.

I've just never seen such a strong distinction between colors. Are the other combustion chambers similar?

This could be due to a bad intake gasket leaking coolant into the intake. Hence the discoloration on that one valve. Also, burnt oil can do this. Just depends on where it was leaking. I had to replace an intake gasket due to overheating about a year ago.
