I have a 2000 5.4L and sometimes when I am on the freeway and have to slow down because of some idiot who doesn't know the speed limit, I go to speed back up and my truck shakes, its not a tire vibration or suspention, it is definatly something with the engine. I am pretty sure it only happens when my air conditioner is on. Anyone have an idea as to why it does this?

Do you have a check engine light on? Sounds like a bad coil pack or plug to me. See if you have any codes that are coming up in your computer.

i would defiantly check the coils and plugs, check the rubber boots on the coils to see if they have any cracks or splits. when one of mine went the engine light didnt come on for a while. it will happen mostly under load, ie. when your putting your foot down.

thanks for the advice. I just remembered that I have to get my truck to pass emissions within the next couple of weeks, so I need to be fixing this!

I had the same problem with my01 truck and if you just go and tell a service place your problem they will take care of it

I had a COP go out on my 01 5.4 and the miss was worse at about 55-60 while lightly accelerating. My check engine light did come on but I am not sure if it was before or after. It seemed like the COP had built resistance and when you accelerated hard it was OK

I think I have a similar problem. Mine will shake in between 45-50mph the worst and if im going uphill 45-50 I really notice it.
