Default New Winter Beater

Just creating this thread to track the progress of this truck. It is a 1997 Regular Cab short bed, 4x4, automatic with the 5.4.

Will be replacing the frame rails after the rear axle on either side as they are nearly disintegrated from 16 years of Ohio winters. But it run and drives, so I figured it had to be worth the $500 I paid for it just to use as my winter truck.

It is actually the upper shock mount on the driver's side. It broke off the cross member that is also used for the spare tire carrier.

I will "undercoat" it with used motor oil once it is all done. Free and effective

Chop the end off, and make it a truggy! Do it! Also, good luck getting it safetied if you have to cut off the frame and weld a new end on. That would never ever pass an Ontario inspection.
