Thats what i had in mind. Of course ill be talking to the machine shop about what he thinks but ill be assembling and ordering everything. I can actually order the pistons already notched if I need to.

I recommend Mahle pistons in 5.4's. The coated skirts help eliminate friction and help with the side loading of the wrist pin. I have them in the DOHC that I am building up.

My engine builder recommended Mahle rods and pistons to me. What are you doing to your 4v? Have a turbo planned or anything exciting or just simpl rebuild?

Nothing major really. Slightly higher compression, custom spec cams, going to have a mid length runner intake built. Something shorter than factory but no short enough to completely kill low end power. I wont be revving it to the moon so 5k is as far as it will go. I would use SCAT I-Beams if you plan on boosting it. If is a mild built motor stock rods will be fine. That what i'm going to use. Looking for 350/350 to the wheels. My navigator is 290/320 to the wheels and its basically stock with a tune.

Thats all im shooting for is 350. Ive thought about using stock rods since I won't be boosting it but i dont know the history of the engine so its worth it for me to buy new rods.

350/350 should be simple with out cams wouldn't you think. For the price of cams, couldn't you port match the intake and port the heads a little, With a 10.25:1 cr you'd be there

The problem with the navi heads is getting port velocity up. The ports are so big they loose velocity. I dont see 350/350 to wheel in a stock cam ore even just higher compression. I'm putting mine in my 4wd. My navigator is 2wd and is only 290 to the wheels. So enough 60hp or so would be hard.

Doing the math it were talking close to 440 to the flywheel N/A. Getting there from a factory engine rated at 300/300 Ithink wpuld be pretty hard. But the killer is the factory intake. Thats what I have been told by many people. Short runner makes hp but kills the tq. Where the factory long runner make gobbs of torque on the low end but kills everything up top. My 04 Navi dies at 4900.. for the cams I have and around 10.5:1 I know what my ideal runner length needs to be and getting it isnt going to be easy.

Milling the heads and running flat tops? Im ready to pull the trigger on my parts.
