My 4x4 Lightning Swap Build
So, I'm in for a big transformation of my truck. The truck was bought new by my father in 2001, and was given to me when I turned 17. Either him or I have put the 255k miles on it. It has performed beautifully throughout its 15 year life thus far, providing memories from growing up without falter.
The truck means a lot to my father and I so we've decided to breathe new life into her.
She's a 2001 4x4 Lariat Screw, white/gold/black exterior with sand beige interior.
For the motor I chose a Promar lightning improved long block with forged internals, topped with a stock Eaton S/C, green top injectors, Fluidyne heat exchanger, aluminum overflow tanks, GT500 S/C coolant pump, Accufab single blade TB, JLT intake, OBX longtubes, and Borla catback.
To back the power plant up I've chosen a Lentech Street eliminator 4R70W w/ a furnace brazed torque converter as well as an upgraded larger aluminum oil pan.
As for suspension I am going to source as many Ford parts as possible without having to slap all duralast parts on. With no modifications to the ride height save for the previously done level.
The interior is getting a refresh with new carpeting, Dynamat, rear speakers (still stock lol), head unit, king Ranch seats/consoles, and a dash repaint.
Finally the exterior will stay the same colors, just touched up and re-cleared along with some new headlights.
I'll try my best to keep this updated while I get it done in a timely fashion.

Please do! This sounds like it should be a great build.

Can't wait to see it, curious what all goes in to dropping the Promar engine in to an N/A F150... I'm within 75k of needing a new power plant myself...
Also... what wheels are you running? I was hoping to get a better look at them.

Yeah, of course! I have the s/c w/ injectors, plenum and intercooler. Also the pulley bridge is on its way, as well as the fuel pump and MAF. I am also working on sourcing the throttle cable and cruise cable.
I've been going through this build in my head and on paper for over a year now but I know there's some things you won't remember! Haha

There's quite a few articles about it. The best I've seen so far is built54's (Joey's) build. This guy stayed on it , - worked everything out quick, never stuck for long. He went on to improve it more moving up from blower to blower for awhile...never lost a posted race. Look his build up if your in question about anything, or if you just wish to solidify your own thinking.
Good Luck, - fun project for sure!
