a dealer has to do it for you. also they will need to program the vin into the cluster as well (at least chevys do, i dunno fords). If a normal guy could do it there would be way too much mileage fraud.

Its not vehicle specific (vin coded) but as stated, the mileage is only programmable by the dealer.
Your best bet is to look for a cluster for sale that has roughly the same mileage as yours. If you plan to drive the truck till it drops or can find one within a couple thousand of your miles, I'd say don't even worry about programming it. You can get ANY cluster from ANY truck. It does not have to be one from a V6.

i dont think you can get one from a king ranch...(not positive)...... but yeah... and the dealer is the one who has to change the cluster... you cannot bring the cluster in and have them change the mileage.. they have to take yours out to verify that is actual mileage... alot of dealers dont even mess with it becouse its such a fine if it comes back to be not the correct mileage somehow

There is a company on ebay that fixes clusters and keeps odometer reading. Has alot of good reviews. Just do a search on ebay for an F150 cluster. I have not used them, my readout has only blinked out once.
