Yep, that's how it is. One of the reasons people go with direct fits is because they don't know any better. It's usually the shop that orders the direct fits for install. It's lot's cheaper to purchase high flows and the muffler you want, - then bring it in to a exhaust shop and have them install everything.

There's also a way to get it done for next to nothin. You have to do it this way tho. Cut off your old exhaust, Y and everything before going up to the exhaust shop. Yep, run the truck up there with open manifolds lol. Not kidding! The exhaust shop can't charge you as much with it already removed.

Drop the truck off to get the work done, then head to the salvage yard with your old catalytic converters. Fords 4 converter system is worth allot at a salvage yard, - 160 - 200 bucks plus.

In turn, you save at the exhaust shop and make some cash on your old system.

You won't have any issues with driving to the exhaust shop with straight manifolds? Wouldn't that be a bit loud? Lmao. Also, would you have to tell them to weld in bungs for the 4 O2 sensors?

Well yea it'll be loud lol. But that's the ONLY issue. I'm sure yoiu could stomach that for just one ride. I guess I'd sacrifice that for a couple hundy $$. Cheap? Yea, I can be lol. Quite a few have in the past, - it was an in thing at one time from what I recall.

What you do if you end up next to police officer at a light or something, - instead of the loud take off, - stall the truck, have the officer help you push it to the side of the road or at least guide traffic for yuh. That way, instead of a fix it ticket, just wait until the coast is clear and fire her up again. No , it won't hurt the truck.

Yea, they'll no what to do with the O2 bungs. Nevertheless, remind them anyway lol.

Alright cool. Only reason why I ask is cause I'm hoping that I'll be able to talk my dad into getting 2 high flow cats and a magnaflow installed onto my truck, just like the OP wants lol. But I'm thinking instead of having the factory piping chopped all up just have it all replaced with new piping.

I would buy the muffler and cats then go to a shop to have piping bent and everything welded up then a flange for the manifolds. I would probably run it duals, go into a DI/DO muffler and kick it out lightning style.

I don't think I appreciate that. We don't have a local muffler shop. The closest one is nearly an hour away. They charged $400 to run OEM diameter cat-back straight pipes on a co-worker's F150, no mufflers, no stainless tips. The cat back system for my 2000 and the OP's truck is $481 shipped after coupon code. By the time I drive far enough to actually make it worth my while, it's not worth my while any more. Unlike the more populated areas of the US, rural citizens pay a premium for services that have no competition. I'd rather do the 20 minute job myself instead of blowing half a day and a similar amount of money on a shop. I save enough money doing all my own maintenance and repairs to more than make up for any extra money I might spend on a bolt on exhaust.

Hey , do what you want, it was just a suggestion informing the OP of an option and what can be done to down the cost...for him. Frankly, I don't care if you appreciate it or not, world doesn't revolve around you right.

You can turn a wrench... proud of yuh. Of course my posts are not going to apply to everyone.Perhaps if you get your own thread one day, you'll get more one on one attention for your specific situation.

Doesn't revolve around you or your condescending attitude, either. BTW, I'm not impressed with post counts or number of threads you "own".
