Hey man just go to your local exhaust shop and tell them what you want. If you have extra money I'd suggest getting high flow cats from Magnaflow and a maggy muffler aswell. I'm running high flow cats with a maggy muffler and dual 3.5inch tips. Sounds good and it's the cheapest way you don't need to buy piping from Magnaflow just the cats and muffler and tips if wanted

Thanks for all your thoughts. I have used local shops many times for my 1995 lightning. I must've had eight different exhaust systems on that truck. My 95 lightning was heavily modded, the only exhaust that really worked, sounded great, and performed was a full kit by Bassani. That was for my lightning which needed a performance exhaust. I know from experience there are not any local exhaust shops that can match the quality of a manufacture. The giant difference is this truck is not heavily modded and I do not need a go fast exhaust system. If Magna Flow's direct fit catalytic converter's and cat back exhaust system are the same quality as my Bassani was then it is money well spent just for peace of mind. My biggest concern was how loud it would be at cruising speeds and if I could handle it on long trips towing my camper. From what you guys are saying I should be okay with the magna flow set up or maybe even a Borla set up? I think I have decided to use magna flow now all I need are the correct part numbers. Hopefully they still make the direct fit system that I need.

Thank you all again I really appreciate this site is been so valuable over the years you guys on the best.

Yea, you going to spend some cash with direct fit Maggy cat and cat back set ups..just the parts cost alone, - 400-600 hundy just for the Y. Then you have the cat back DF. That's what between 200 -400.

If you want to spend that kind of money on it, your definitely getting a top notch system.

It's all bolt on, you can do most of it with standard tools. Depends upon how you want your exit. You may need a few more hangers.

Hehe, it's no Bassani set up tho. Bassani's are bad *** and hell raison lol. Excellent set ups!

BTW- For part numbers you should hit the manufacturers home pages. I wouldn't purchase from eBay for this stuff. Exhaust stuff like this, eBay sellers tend to sell rejects as far as exhaust configurations. I got hit twice with parts that didn't fit right/man/defective stuff. So be careful who you deal with.

The 15609 is what I'm getting for my truck. I think it was $540-$550ish on Amazon. It's a very mild setup as far as volume is concerned. Plenty YouTube videos. Just search Magnaflow 15609

I got my two Magnaflow kits from Hottexhaust.com using a 25% coupon code that made them cheaper than Amazon and the other usual automotive vendors. It's a Canadian company from what I can tell, but both my exhausts were shipped free out of Louisville and got here the next day.

I just threw a 15609 in the cart and had them email me a coupon code. Total is $481.81. I don't know what cats you need, but you can check it out for yourself.

I wouldn't worry about how loud it will be at cruising speeds because it isn't excessive just a nice tone. Once you get past 3000rpms it really roars but never excessive....from the inside cab

Magnaflow is a good choice. It will save you a good chunk of change to just buy a muffler and cats, then go to an exhaust shop and have them bend all the pipe and weld your system together.

Great info! That's what I was hoping to here I just wanted to hear it from a few different people and now I have.

Yes, that Bassani set up was sick! It was on my 1995 Red Lightning and it was the side exit before the passenger rear tire. I also had the High Flow Cat X-Pipe. It sounded amazing and helped make 504hp at the rear wheels. (wish I never sold that truck :-( Damn ex-wife made me).

These are the part numbers that I found off Magna Flow's site.

D/S Cat Direct fit: 24324

P/S Cat Direct fit:23016 (says it's not available and under development)

Cat Back SISO exit behind rear pass wheel: 15609

I might have to order the parts available due to all the coupons going on right now. I hope they still make the pas side cat. I will call them to see what's what.

It would be cheaper to just buy 2 high flow cats and a magnaflow muffler and have a shop bend all the piping and weld it all together. It's a waste of time IMO to waste your money on the direct replacement stuff. Plus they rip you off on the cost. It's ridiculously priced
