hey everyone i have a 2000 f150 4x4 and recently i have been hearing a loud popping noise from underneath the truck when i take it outta park to reverse and give it some gas. put it in drive and no noise. i have had a torn cv axle boot for a while now and was waiting for it to just wear out b4 puttin a new one in and was wondering if this might be where the popping noise is comming from?

so its not the cv axle..... its a really loud popping noise that only happens when there is a load on the drive train when i take it from park to reverse... anyone????

Hmm, this is a good question, and I'm no transmission guy.
I wonder if one of the clutches is engaging, or a solenoid is letting some fluid past, it could put some pressure on the parking gear causing the pop.
I think you got a bonified transmission guy problem there.
You need someone to check pressures and such, I wouldn't even know where to start.

Maybe your universal joint or u-joint

^X2, u joint, crawl underneat the shake twist the crap out of the U JOINTS, if you get any movement you have a bad one.
