@harm63

Swap coils 1 and 5, takes maybe 15 minutes. Then scan...Like this, - Disconnect the battery before doing so. Wait for the CEL to illuminate or blink, then scan to see if the misfire moved from 5 to 1.

This way you may have a little more faith in what I'm saying.

I have faith in you man.

I tend to thoroughly analyze situations like this since these parts aren't always a cheap date... Which means I ask lots of questions . I'm going to see if Oreillys will price match rock auto on their motorcraft cop's.

Definitely appreciate the help and discussion thus far.

Yea well, If you were to ask for help, I'd send you here, -

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Set-of-8-NEW-Ford-OEM-Motorcraft-Ignition-Coil-3W7E-12A366-AA-DG508-FREE-SHIP-/181674604423?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a4ca67787&vxp=mtr
It's just about 1/2 of what you pay at RA.

But you didn't ask...so forget it .

received my Motorcraft spark plugs in this evening (yes, I like saying if the parts are "Motorcraft" because for some reason...I just think it's cool to buy Motorcraft).

Hoping I can get them all installed this weekend and see / confirm this resolves my issue.

well, all COP's are now switched out with the new ones. I completed an approx. 30 minute test afterwards and I do believe replacing the COP's did the trick. No CEL's, no "dead cylinder" performance while under load, etc.

The only thing I can feel is a slight hesitation / rough idle when the truck is at a stand-still.... and I still get a shutter (non-consistent) when the transmission shifts into 5th gear. The hesitation / rough idle i'm going to chalk up this up to the truck having sat in my driveway for the better part of 3 months through this ordeal.

it's in much better shape and definitely believe replacing the COP's was the right thing to do. Now if I can just figure out the OD/5th gear shudder and get it fixed... I'll get to focus on more fun things to do to the truck
