As for tires, put touring tires on rather than All Terrain or Mud Terrain. And a tune up with new plugs can only make the combustion more efficient. Hard to determine after only 2 tanks of gas, but it appears that I went from 14 to 16 MPG with those 2 items alone.

I did GOTTS mod and headers on my 2002 4.6L, 4x4, 16" wheels-stock tires. I also have a soft bed cover.

None of those improve fuel mileage, but help with performance (bed cover for looks and hauling).

I do mostly easy highway driving (65MPH) on flat terrain and only get about 16MPG per tank during this past winter. (No 15 minute warm ups either, I just tough it out for about 10 minutes.)

I am going to monitor to see if summer blend gas will improve these mileage figures.

I may also purchase a Super Chips tuner to see if it will improve my mileage. I may also buy a fuel mileage readout display that plugs into OBD port.

Best way to add fuel mileage is air the tires up to their maximums, and always time your trips with the wind at the rear pushing you, then pull in real close to a 18 wheeler and let him vacuum you along. LOL

Me personaly have done an edge cs programer (power level 2), bed cover, Gotts mod with the drop in k&N filter, exhaust, and am installing my e-fan controler today. Still haven't figured what fans I want to run yet. I'm seeing an average of 22 MPG with 70% high way driving. I've got the 4.6 as well and to me its all been well worth the money so far. It's nice having the extra power being that its only a small V8 milage would probably be better if I could keep my foot out of the floor board.

How much does an electric fan run? I looked and kits seem to be around 400$ I didn't know if maybe they were cheaper somewhere else

I was referring to the other guy who claims 22mpg.

22mpg rivals my 2010 Town & Country with a 3.8L

If he get 22 befor the e-fan, I'm thinking he'll be approaching 26mph towing a travel-trailer, up hill into a headwind. (just saying)

With my sarchasim aside, how can I do better than 16mph with 70% highway miles? I drive 65mph, with no suspension/tire mods. The truck is stock, minus a K&N and GOTTS mod.
