Looking for assisted lift tailgate - all electric up & down
I have searched and didn't see anything that would allow me to open and close the tailgate electrically. I like those automatic doors and tailgates on premium SUV and vans. I see some sort of shock for letting the gate down, but nothing to lift it back up. The darn tail gate almost weights more than me! I almost have to have help to close it
I really won't open it alot but would like to if I need to.
So I was wondering if anyone has came up with anything that would work. The bodyshop said they could do it for around $2,000.00... that means I can't get rims till the following month
* I found some metal braket thing that looks like it assists in closing the gate. I don't think that is what I really want. I want to push a button on my remote and close/open the gate.... That would make momma very happy (even though I don't have kids)

$2,000 sounds about right. Opening and closing the tailgate with the flip of a switch isn't going to come cheap.

that's good. I just don't want it hanging off of the side of the gate inside. They said they would think about it and sketch something up for me. I will likely do it before my rims.... anyone have any examples of this done? I been to a car show before and they had a tail gate done but it was done with a bracket and motor under the truck. That is what I really want, but I am ot sure if it will work for a car I intend to drive a few time a week

well I am a little girl! I struggle to close it and it is just as hard to open it with out slamming it! I will get the rims - only have to wait another month before I have the cash

Oh than that makes more sense. You know I bet you could go to a Toyota dealership and ask them to install one of the tundras assisted lifts on yours.. Cause If I remember right. The tundras have assisted tailgates or it might be the Chevys??? It's one of the 2. And when I mean assisted I mean you can drop it and it will go down slowly.
