Default Lockers up front in the 8.8?

Im not looking to go e-locker or arb because that would honestly just cost too much. PowerTrax Lock-Right 1820 LR locker for $300 to $400 and that is looking pretty good but a mini spool is $120. My question is how will the mini spool and locker behave up front when I am driving around in 2 wheel drive?

Thanks in advance

With a spool up front in 2wd its not really noticeable. Keep in mind the the entire front axle and drive shaft will be spinning all the time so your mpg will take a hit. In 4x4 you will notice the steering binds up turning sharp and turning radius increases. Going back from 4x to 2wd takes a bit longer for the locking collar to disenage and may require you to turn the steering wheel back n forth while rolling.

Huh!
Do you have ESOF? Unless you have one of these problems or are in 4x4 your front drive shaft shouldn't turn.

1 - A vacuum leak in the disengage system vacuum lines.
2 - A faulty disengage solenoid or its electrical system.
3 - A stuck actuator motor or a leak in its diaphragm.
4 - A stuck lockup collar in the front axle.

If this was the case, when you put the truck into park, your front and rear tires would both be locked. Only the rear lock, unless you have 4x4 engaged.

My 4x works fine. This is just what I have noticed with the front being spooled.

Im not altogether worried about the mpg drop (maybe a little) would you say it dropped it by more than an mpg? I spend a lot of time on logging roads so maybe a greater turning radius wouldn't be the way I need to go but I like the idea of full power up front and an ls in the rear for streetability sake. Are you locked up in the rear too?

Looks like im going to be setting up a camera and seeing what the front driveshaft does in 2 wheel.

I'd say a couple mpg were lost.Yes locker out back and spooled up front. With an open front the ds shouldnt turn. With a spool it will. Oh and being locked up the tires tend to follow the crown of the road in the mud. Ie siding towards the sides.

I might have to stay away from the spool in favor of the lock right. The roads I would be locking up on tend to just be rutted out messes from log trucks and the occasional power line so crowns arent going to be a problem. I could probably make up the mpgs with fans and a tuner (ive been looking for a good reason to get them) lol
