Cool Location of Fuel Pump Drive/Module 1999 F-150 V8

Hello,

I just acquired an old F150 1999 construction truck (nothing fancy about it) from Nebraska and brought it to Colorado...needless to day there is dirt and dust in every crevice. I had new injectors put on and then new fluids but I just recently changed the fuel filter because it is having trouble starting after being ran for awhile, especially in the heat. I thought it was the fuel pump relay but most folks say that the relay works or it doesn't so my truck wouldn't even start if that was the issue. So instead of going straight to the fuel pump and since the fuel filter didn't fix it I want to find the Fuel Pump Driver/Module but it isn't near the spare tire like everyone says. Does anyone have a Haynes that says exactly where it is located?

Thanks!!

Not sure what a Fuel pump driver/module is but terminology can be confusing. First thing I would do is check to see if the fuel pump safety switch was activated. I have had these go off even as simple as a flat tire. This switch is located on the passenger side below the dash on the side of the interior. Feel up in there to see if the switch is popped up. It is on top. You can see it if you use a flash light.

If the switch is down, next I would check the fuel pump relay underneath the hood on the drivers side. Pop the cover of the power distribution block and it's in the location pictured.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply. Actually I changed out the fuel filter so I know that the reset is engaged so that's not it. And with the replay itself, I am wondering if the replay is bad doesn't that mean the truck won't run at all? The truck eventually turns over but it takes longer in the heat after it has been running for a bit and shut off. I found the Fuel Pump Module while researching the truck issues on Google and YouTube and folks say that the fuel pump isn't always bad and it is cheaper to look at the module first...but most say theirs sits behind the spare tire when you take it off. Thanks for the diagram too, I checked it out and for some reason the one under the hood doesn't match that diagram for the fuses which makes me curious now to what each fuse and relay is.

If it's the box I'm thinking of, it should be almost straight above the rear axle, almost centered but not quite.

These truck do not have a fuel pump driver module as the 97-03 F150's use a return fuel system. You need a fuel pump.

Default 1999 4.6 L F-150 Fuel pressure

With ignition switch on should fuel pressure go right to 32+ psi? I had to turn switch on three times, 1st 10psi, second 20psi third 30+psi.
Is this clear indication of bad fuel pump?
